Mr. Cahill has been a part of SEM for 10+ years and currently acts as the Construction Services Manager. He originally joined the company in the Geomatics division, where he gained a strong technical background, but quickly became involved in construction management activities, first with Wabush Mines on their fish habitat compensation projects and then Nalcor/NL Hydro on various capital works projects.
As the Construction Services Manager Mr. Cahill acts as the main point of contact for clients sourcing high skilled professionals, which specialize in various disciplines, for their various projects. Internally he leads the recruitment process for new personnel and is a support source for successful candidates throughout their time with SEM.
Most recently Mr. Cahill worked as a Construction Manager on a transmission line project which runs from Chapel Arm to Bay d'Espoir. During this placement he managed all field staff including construction management representatives, safety advisors, environmental coordinators, field engineers and quality control personnel. He worked directly with project management teams from NL Hydro, the contractor and operations personnel. This portion of the job focused on safety, planning, progress tracking, quality insurance and eventually project closeout. After construction was complete Mr. Cahill stayed on and managed all facets of the reclamation of the ROW.
Mr. Cahill has an exceptional work ethic, excellent communication skills and a strong technical background but also understands continued learning is important for everyone to continue to develop as a professional.
