For Rio Tinto, responsibly managing waste from their mining operations is essential, as is being transparent with their stakeholders about their tailings facilities and how they manage them. This project showcases their commitments in Sept-Îles, QC.

Project Overview
SEM Productions developed a 3D recreation of Sept-Îles using real-world satellite imagery and elevation data with 3D models to generate accurate aerial video of the area. This was paired with motion graphics containing key information and messaging, all of which adhere to Rio Tinto’s brand standard. The video has versions in both English and French to reflect RT IOC’s operational areas in Québec and Newfoundland & Labrador.
1. Creative Work: Developing a storyboard and script (English and French) for the video based on provided documentation.
2. 3D Modeling: Recreating Sept-Îles in 3D for video rendering purposes including satellite data, elevation data, and inserted 3D models.
3. Video Editing: Assembling all elements into a final video product, including music, SEM’s 2D/3Danimations, and photos from Rio Tinto’s media bank.
